The Dawn is a folk-acoustic tale about walking into nature at dawn as the sun rises, or at dusk as the moon sings to you of her lost love.
I love Dawn because it’s quiet, before the day, before any responsibility has started. Free time... Shouldn’t all time be free?
I Love the Dawn
It's like the Earth is taking
A big deep breath before the day
I love the Dawn
All the people are still sleeping
I can do some of my restful thinking
There is peace, joy and a sense of magic at dawn. On this perfect day when I took the video that became the lyric video and the cover art. It was such a perfect morning. I haven't seen a morning like it again this year.
The fields are aglow with an orange halo
Into the fields Into the forest I can go
And no one will know
And no one will follow
It feels secret to walk towards trees and birds when no other human knows where you are.
There’s something else that’s magical about watching the sun wake from somewhere secret. And the shade of orange is my absolute favourite. Warm and alive. No expectations. No plans.
Ok I love the dusk too, the other in-between-time. In between the duality. A grey to the black-and-white.
I love the Dusk
It's like the Earth is waiting
Just because the Moon - she will sing
The Moon - she sings a sad song
'Cause the Sun - he was her lover in another life
And now she lights up the night
Into the fields
Into the forest I can go
And no one will follow
No one will follow
There are many myths and legends about the Sun and Moon where they were great friends or lovers who separated for one reason or another. One of my favourite reasons being when the Moon disagreed with the Sun’s ambition to light up the Earth all day and all night. Excessive!?
So she left. The full Moon somehow looks lonely on a clear night. Maybe this is why...
When the moon sings her sad song
A true matter of right and wrong
The loneliness of longing
Of what is taken away too soon
Into the fields
Into the forest I can go
And no one will follow
The bridge of ‘The Dawn’ describes more of the Moon’s lament of her separation from the Sun. She left the Sun because she thought his plan was wrong, not because she really wanted to go. My addition to the lore is that now that she's alone, she sings to herself when she is furthest away from the Sun, in the darkest night. And the Earth listens.
They will never be together again. Cursed to watch each other from afar.
And I’ll try to hear the Moon’s song, while walking through the fields and forest, listening.
Thank you for being here <3
